My favorite!

I just have to share with whoever reads this blog my favorite website right now.  It is called Picnik.com and it is so awesome!  It is a photo editing site that pretty much just helps dummies like me who have tried to understand photoshop, to actually edit photos the way I want them!  Did I mention it's awesome?!  Go have a look a do a little experimenting yourself - I promise you'll be hooked in no time! :)

Road Rage

I spent about three nights painting Thomas' room and making curtains for it.  It came together pretty well and the best part is:  he loves it!  So, I'm not very good at taking pictures but this is what I've got.

Since this boy is so obsessed with cars/trains/trucks/buses/tractors, etc, I made the border a road for him to drive his cars on.  

I got him a new shelf to put toys and books in so that they don't have to take over my living room anymore.  Phew!  

These are the curtains, cute fabric huh?

Those cars, etc. that you see on the road are wooden ones that I found at the craft store.  I put some velcro on the back and on the wall so that Thomas can re-position them on the road wherever he wants.  He loves those things.

I'll be doing Jonathan's room next.  I've already painted it, but I need to get it put together before any pictures show up on here.

Raspberry Jam Session

These babies were on major sale at Kroger a few weeks ago so I bought way too many and made a few batches of freezer jam.  Mmmm!  Raspberry jam is my all-time favorite jam - I'm so excited!

I used the low-sugar formula which uses more fruit but has a lot more flavor and less calories.  Double bonus!

Glove Puppies

I found this book at the library...

and made these guys for my twin nephews for their birthdays.

They are so easy to make and so cute!  Oh and the bonus is, they're super cheap!  I'm making a few more of these for Christmas presents so I'll try to take pictures of the process.

Mail & KeysTray

So, I've been wanting to get something to organize my mail, keys, cellphone, etc. and I finally found this little tray at Goodwill ($3).

Not the cutest thing ever but it had potential.  So I sanded it a bit just to rough it up and painted it a really deep chocolate brown.

When the paint dried I Mod Podged some scrapbooking paper to the bottom and I think it turned out pretty darn cute!

Diaper pouches

These little diaper pouches are the best thing in the world.  This is one of my go-to baby shower gifts.  It will hold about 6 newborn diapers and 3 size 4 diapers along with a portable wipes case.  It's so handy - all you have to do is grab it and go!

Baby blankets

I learned how to make these really simple blankets by watching my mom.  They are just two pieces of flannel (1 yd each) with batting in-between, tied together with yarn.  

I always get my flannel on sale at Joann's so these are a really inexpensive, cute, cozy, and a practical gift for any kid ages 0-5 - after that age, they might not think it's cool to get a blanket for their birthday.

This is a train pattern with a solid blue backing.  I just used my lap quilting frame and tied it with white yarn.

I just zigzagged around the edges to finish it off.

This is one of my favorites!  I LOVE this animal print and I think the rolled edges look better and more finished.

Jewelry hanger

Kinda simple but it gets the job done.

Sock Monkeys

I made each of my boys a sock monkey for Christmas - Jonny LOVES his!

Too many monkeys jumping on the bed!

I was going to just buy the pair of socks and make them from scratch using an online pattern but I found a kit in the kids crafts section of Joann's for $8 that included everything from the buttons to the fabric for the hat on their heads.  It was pretty easy but since I had never made a stuffed animal before- it took a bit longer than I had anticipated.  But it was so worth it!

Black Apple Dolls

I love these!  Super easy and super cute!

I learned how to make these by going to this site.  It has a tutorial and a free pattern.  So much fun!

Book Wreath

I made this book wreath out of a book I bought for $1 at Goodwill.  Total the wreath cost me probably about $3. 

I think it turned out pretty cute!
